You will become familiar with assessing through observation and using children’s thinking to guide instruction. You will develop an understanding of the framework for children’s development of number sense. Overall, you will become more confident in your ability to teach mathematics.
Specifically, the course will address the following concepts:
4 Early Numeracy Concepts (Subitizing, Verbal Counting, Object Counting, and Cardinality) and the 4 Number Relationships (Spatial Relationships, One/Two More & Less, Benchmarks of 5 & 10, and Part-Part-Whole)

What is the time committment?
When the course officially starts, the 8 modules are released one each week. Each week there is approximately 1.5 hours of instructional time. You have access to the course materials for 3 months from the date the course starts. You are able to watch them at anytime once the module is released.
Can I earn CEUs or Credits?
Each state has different requirements for what they accept for CEUs or Professional Development. So, check to see what is required. I offer a certificate of completion for 15 hours OR you can take the course for professional development credit through an accredited university that we have it set up through, you just need to pay the university their $60 fee for the credit.
Do you take Purchase Orders?
If you are an individual teacher, or a group of up to 5 teachers, who needs to use a PO, use this School Registration.

What if I don't finish in 3 months?
I really want you to finish! I know life is busy...I'm a mom of 4 very active kids. Each week is approximately 1.5 hours, sometimes less. I want you to look at your schedule and see if you can commit to 1.5 hours a week over those 8 weeks. You do have 3 months of access from start of the course, but if you don't think you'll have time, then you can register for the 12 month access of the course or there is a way to extend your course access (by becoming a paying member of Build Math Minds).

{to give you an idea of who I am & my math ed philosophy}
- I have 4 wonderful children and I thank the Lord that He changed the way I thought about mathematics before they arrived in my life so that I could provide math experiences for them, instead of math flash cards.
- I call myself a Recovering Traditionalist. I was a very traditional learner and teacher....give me an algorithm and I could solve it....give me any mental math or story problems and I would start sweating.
- I believe in the power of a positive and growth mindset (for ourselves and our kiddos). Failure is often how we learn our best lessons...yet we try too hard to not let our students fail in class. Feeding them step-by-step directions on how to solve mathematics problems is NOT truly mathematics.
- My mother was my junior high English teaher and she wood probably have a heart atack if she ever red any thing I put out....well, except for the first book i published (she was my editer). I donut take the time to be gramatically corect and nothin' is ever prefect {I would rather spend my time with my kids than ensure I wrote a complete sentence or speled all the wurds in this paragraf correctly ;).
