Learn the 3 Things You Need to Consider When Deciding the Best Way To Teach Math

THREE DAYS OF LESSONS DELIVERED TO YOUR EMAIL

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN JUST 3 DAYS:

We are constantly being told to try out new and "better" things in our classrooms. Whether it's from your school or just scrolling through social media, you are getting messages about what's the BEST way to be teaching.

But when teaching math in the elementary grades, there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL approach that works for all of our kiddos. I'd like you to know that you are teaching math perfectly right now. We all do the best we can with the knowledge we have at the time. But I also believe that we can all learn and grown in our understanding of how to teach.

So here's what you'll learn in this mini class:

Day 1: Balanced Math Instruction

There is a constant debate about whether we should teach kids conceptual or procedural math. The answer is that kids need both. In this video, we will talk about two distinct differences between teaching math conceptually and teaching math procedurally..and why kids need both.

Day 2: Focus On Content Emphases…What Is Essential In Each Grade Level?

Sure it would be wonderful to get through all your content in your grade, but reality is that we don't. So in this video, I'll introduce you to the Content Emphases document that helps us to see what is really essential at each grade level so that you can spend more time on the most powerful concepts at your grade level.

Day 3: Math Scope & Sequence

So many districts have teachers just follow the math textbook to decide what content to cover. But how many times have you asked yourself “Is this really the order that makes sense for my students?" and "How long should I spend on teaching each specific math concept?” Well this video will help you answer that.
